We like the traditional building - like a "Rydell High" - and love the fact that the school has a dedicated auditorium (separate from the cafeteria) for the fantastic theatrical productions. The culture at the school is vibrant, because the students and teachers choose to be there, and that is quite different from a school where you have to be there. The STEM teacher is a 2018 OCPS "Teacher of the Year" recipient. Because it is a magnet school for visual and performing arts, the number of creative electives a student can choose from, such as Law, Dance, Photography or Guitar, is much better than standard OCPS. Parent: We live in Windermere opted for Howard instead of our zoned school. I could not be the person I am today without OCSA. Overall, the experience of OCSA was essential to journey as a musician and an artist in general. I feel, however, that I did not get the most of this experience because I could not play my primary instrument. OCSA is great at creating exceptional musicians and artists. I auditioned on piano but I instead played percussion because piano is not considered a primary instrument. I also hope they incorporate piano as a primary instrument (for band, orchestra, vocal, etc.). I wish that there is funding for the school to have a state-of-the-art facility. I attended OCSA as a band major from grades 6-12. present opportunities that are unmatched. It is the perfect setting for students aspiring to become artists.
